乳山市中医院成立于1983年5月，是一所集医疗、急救、教学、科研、保健、康复为一体的国家二级甲等中医院。是山东省中医药专家继承医院、山东中医药高等专科学校附属医院、山东省中医院协作医院，先后荣获全省示范中医院、山东省价格诚信单位、山东省卫生工作先进集体、省级青年文明号、山东省健康促进医院、威海市文明单位等荣誉称号。

医院建筑面积2.4万平方米，开放床位500张，设临床、医技科室55个。现有干部职工500余人，其中高级职称29人、中级职称141人，硕士研究生34人。医院整体医疗技术水平位于同级同类医院前列，妇科和针灸理疗科是国家级农村医疗机构中医特色专科，心病科和内分泌科是省级中医药临床重点专科，妇科和脑病科是威海市级中医药龙头专科，脾胃病科、儿科、针灸科是市级中医重点专科建设单位。

医院医疗设备先进，拥有GESigna1.5T超导核磁共振、64排128层螺旋CT、GE血管数字减影机、数字X光机、DR计算机成像系统、GE彩超、全自动生化分析仪、血液透析仪、电子胃肠镜、腹腔镜、碎石机等系列先进医疗设备。

医院不断优化服务环境，创新服务方式，拓宽服务领域。引进北京名老中医专家团队定期来院坐诊，启动了院内制剂的委托研发，全面营造关注中医、发展中医、绿色中医的良好氛围；将治未病健康管理中心与原有的国医堂、针灸推拿综合治疗区整合成为中医药综合治疗集中区,为群众提供中医专家面诊、中医综合疗法、中药养生保健、中医体质辨识与健康体检等相结合的一站式中医药医疗预防保健服务；成立中药服务覆盖全市的乳山市医共体中药配送中心，为全市公立医疗机构提供中药饮片审方、煎煮、配送一条龙服务，整个流程快捷、安全，极大地方便乳山市民享受到高质量的中医药服务。

医院十分注重与名医名院联合，加强高端人才培养。先后与北京协和医院、北京中医药大学东直门医院、北京大学人民医院、山东省立医院、山东省中医院、烟台毓璜顶医院等上级医院建立协作关系，名医专家定期来院授课、坐诊、会诊、临床带教，年均选派20余名专业骨干进修深造，整体业务水平不断提高。
